Delhi Police claims Kundra lost Rs.1 crore in IPL betting, Shilpa Shetty involved too !

Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar on Thursday said that Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra has admitted to betting in the Indian Premier League for the last 2-3 years.

Kumar said, "Raj Kundra used to place bets on his team and suffered losses. The bets were placed through Umesh Goenka".


Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources say Raj Kundra lost Rs.1 crore in betting during IPL-6 and his wife Shilpa Shetty might also be questioned.

Siddharth Trivedi, a Rajasthan Royals player who has turned approver in the spot-fixing case has told the police that he was approached by Umesh Goenka, Kundra's business partner during an IPL match in Ahmedabad.

Earlier, Kundra's passport has been seized by Delhi Police which questioned him for about 10 hours in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal and allegations that he was into betting.

Police has asked Kundra not to leave the country.

Delhi Police sources said that Kundra was quizzed for about 10 hours on Wednesday.

A senior Delhi Police official had on Wednesday refused to specify whether Kundra is a "suspect or complainant", stating he was an "important person" needed for questioning.
